Wild Berry Skittles Popsicles! Yes, I went there!! With just two ingredients – Skittles candy and water – You too can enjoy these super fun candylicious frozen treats!
I am a self-proclaimed candy addict with a truly obsessive obsession. Does that make sense? I love candy and if I’m being real, there is a very real possibility my innards are dyed Yellow Lake 6, or something like that.
My candy obsession began as a wee child of, perhaps, 8. This was around the time I was allowed to walk to school by myself (unheard of today). On rare occasions I was able to string enough money (we were poor) for a trip to the candy store across the street.
The candy store is heaven for a kid who loooooves candy. Rows and rows of different types of candy, as far as my little 8 year old eyes could see.
The less expensive candy in jars within reach, the more expensive kind behind the counter where a surly candy store owner would give you the evil eye and attempt to hurry your ass up.
No, Candyman. Candy decisions cannot be rushed. One incorrect move and not only was your money wasted, but you were stuck with shitty candy for the rest of the day. Back the eff up, surly candy store owner. Leave me alone to decide in peace.
I usually walked out of the candy store with a small brown paper bag bursting with Nerds candy, Banana Now and Laters, maybe a Charleston Chew – And always, always a couple of peanut chews.
As a kid, I visited my grandparents twice a month. This meant I’d return with a pocket full of cash and hopped up on marshmallow fluff and 7Up. Mo’ money meant mo’ candy and I was able to upgrade my Peanut Chews to Snickers bars and my tiny box of nerds to a full sized bag of Skittles.
I had a system when consuming Skittles. It was very methodical. At first. I would separate all the Skittles and line them up in neat little rows. I would eat the lemon, my least favorite flavor, followed by the lime and orange. Finally I would eat the strawberry and grape. Sometimes together, sometimes separately. It would depend on my mood.
This method went on for years until, well…
1. Skittles started featuring more flavors.
2. I discovered that if you shoved all the Skittles in your mouth all at once, you would get this amazing burst of all the flavors in your mouth.
Ooh, this tangerine!
I dug all the new Skittles flavors and when they dropped this Wild Berry on me, it was a wrap. Still to this day I will choose Wild Berry Skittles over any other Skittles flavor.
And how do I eat these Skittles?
Duh, I shove them all in my mouth. At once. And I chew and chew and chew until they dissolve.
And this is what these Wild Berry Skittles popsicles are. It’s a huge bag of Wild Berry Skittles, blended till mostly smooth with water and cooked down until the candy melts. The mixture is allowed to cool. You strain it – ‘cause believe it or not the hard coating doesn’t always melt – Then you freeze it in popsicle molds.
Blended Skittles popsicles turn a cool purple color; which coincidentally is the very same color Skittles turn should you pop a million in your mouth, chew like mad, and spit them out to look. The best part is these popsicles taste like all the Wild Berry Skittles flavors at once. But frozen.
It’s super immature.
But with two ingredients, you have nothing to lose.

Add skittles and water to a blender. Puree on high until mostly smooth. Pour the mixture onto a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer until the water turns color and the skittles are mostly dissolved. Remove from heat and cool until close to room temperature. Strain the mixture into a measuring cup with a strainer lined with a layer of cheesecloth. Discard solids and cheesecloth. It will be sticky. Pour the mixture into popsicle molds.
Place molds in the freezer and freeze at least 4 hours or overnight.
Remove from popsicle molds and enjoy immediately.
