If you’re an iced coffee junky and DIG dulce de leche – Then you will LOOOOOOVE this Dulce de Leche Cold Brew Drink!
Every Saturday my Moonbug and I have what we call “Cold Brew Saturdays!” Yes, with an exclamation point and a sing-song. Loud and proud.
It’s our weekly bonding ritual.
I serve us cold brew concentrate and sweetened milk over ice. Her cold brew is heavy on the milk and very light on the coffee. She’s already a bit… Spirited and hyper. Coffee exacerbates her hyperactivity, therefore I tend to go super light. She doesn’t really notice. The focus is geared towards early morning conversation and too loud giggles.
We talk about her school week, her wins. We speak about books and what she’s reading now. Sometimes we draw, or play “Tiny Nintendo”, a miniaturized version of the late 80’s Nintendo console. We enjoy a late breakfast. Then I spend the entire day asking her to clean her room, and her rebuttal is that she’s an ARTIST and ARTISTS are messy.
This is our Saturday morning and it’s always centered on cold brew concentrate.
Lately I’ve been digging the combination of cold brew concentrate with dulce de leche. If you have yet to try the magic that is dulce de leche, I urge you to drop what you’re doing and seek it, make it, or host a dulce de leche rain dance.
Dulce de leche is a caramel-like concoction consisting of milk and sugar. It is cooked down until it caramelized. It’s pretty much silky heaven.
Now flow with me, let’s talk about this Cold Brew Concentrate with Dulce de leche. It’s pretty simple. All you need is cold brew concentrate. You can make my recipe or you can purchase it. Now comes the good part: You mix a bit of cold brew with dulce de leche and mix until the dulce de leche is combined.
This mixture is split between two glasses. Cold Brew Concentrate is added, followed by milk. Mix to combined and top with ice.
Perfect weekend ritual drink.
